Welcome to AP Calculus AB! This course is a prep class to prepare students and get them ready for their next school year's Calc class. It is designed to provide a basic introduction to key concepts and application of calculus and make students feel comfortable with the topics. We will explore key topics in calculus and connect these concepts together to solve problem. The goal of this AP Calculus AB class is to provide students with a solid foundation in the principles of calculus and to get them started with AP style questions that will help them with their studies in the AP exam and their classes. We would like to achieve the goals of developing a deep understanding of calculus concepts such as limits, derivatives, integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. We would like the students to use these skills to solve variety of problems and strengthen their ability to think critically. Our most important goal is to prepare students for the AP exam with some real AP questions to get them comfortable with. By the end of the course students should be solid and approach Calculus with confidence.
Students requirement
Students should have already taken algebra two or have some understanding of the topic taught before Calc. Before course start students should have joined google classroom and reviewed over class materials and class rubric. During the session, best if students can open their camera but is not required. Students should have all the materials they need for this class prepared beforehand. The expectation for students is to actively attend the sessions, completion of homework assignments, and seek out help when needed. The materials for this class is PDF or printed version of the AP Calc notes packet that will be provided in google classroom, a graphing calculator if best (if not its fine), and writing utensils.
